Mud turtle???? Help

This is my common snapping turtle Elvis, I made a collage for comparison. Me and my hubby argued whether it was a snapping turtle or not lol. I see tons of color differences between the two. I'm guessing it's a common musk turtle but I could be wrong. It is beautiful though I really love the coloring on that fella

This is my common snapping turtle Elvis, I made a collage for comparison. Me and my hubby argued whether it was a snapping turtle or not lol. I see tons of color differences between the two. I'm guessing it's a common musk turtle but I could be wrong. It is beautiful though I really love the coloring on that fella
Lots of color variation from black to brown with snappers. Absolutely no question this is a snapper. The pointy carapace scutes are an easy identifier and extremely distinctive.

I know there is one sure way to tell if it is a snapper his tail i was just looking at my snapper and his tail is prehistoric. I'm sure you're right i just have never seen a snapper with that light of coloration it's gorgeous honestly

I know there is one sure way to tell if it is a snapper his tail i was just looking at my snapper and his tail is prehistoric. I'm sure you're right i just have never seen a snapper with that light of coloration it's gorgeous honestly
This is a light colored common snapper that after being moved outside for a couple years kept some of the light skin colors but the shell turned dark brown.After about 5 years it lookedsnapper copy 2.jpg like all the other common snapping turtles In the first pick that @Parais11 posted you can see the tip of it's long tail on the left side.

Wow! I'm lost for words at how bright that one is. Up here the only ones I see are really dark green and or black. Even Elvis is blacker than night thank you for sharing the picture
