Hi everyone ,
I have now had my two hermanns for a month now , in two seperate enclosures and all seems well.
They have both gained 7 gramms in this time. Is this too much or not enough.?
My main question is how much and how often to feed.
One eats all and everything and would eat all day every day , the other is what I would call a delicate eater , has been from day one but is getting better.
They are fed mainly a mix of. Dandelions, clover , pansy , bindweed. Corn salad , snap dragons , cress. Water cress. i have just got some plantain planted so hopefully will be able to offer that soon . They didnt take to endive at all.
Somback to how often and how much.
I have noticed that some people also mix in commercial tortoise food in with fresh. Is this a good idea?
I dont really want to offer dried food untill,i need to and have loads of plants growing .
Sorry if this is too long.

All weight gain is good. I recommend adding Mazuri to their diets, in the UK it is called nutrazu and can be bought from a website called Keizenbrink. Here is a pic

Is there a reason to add toetoise food if I ha e plentiful of fresh right now?
Is what I am feeding them okay?
Nutrazu is a very good food even if you do provide a good diet already. Great food for youngsters and I feed twice a week. Diet you are providing looks great but I’m not sure about snap dragons though.

Nutrazu needs to be soaked first before feeding

Oh feed twice a week only with fresh on the other days ?
Snap dragons are antirihnums and are good to feed according to the tortoise table site.
Will have a look at that food, okay for hermanns?

So I would mix the Nutrazu with other food two times a day. It’s good for all tortoises and great for beefing them up a bit:)
