Let us know how you get on, I’ve got a soft spot for this tortoise.
I’m so pleased! She looks a lot better aswell. Keep us updatedView attachment 277723
Our girl is going pretty well. They basically skinned her, Thankfully she did still have eyes! She is healing nicely. We are giving her shots, soaking her in iodine and putting a special cream on her daily. They have us a special food mix and pain meds but she is having challenges opening her mouth now. We thought she hadn’t eaten because she couldn’t see but I now feel it’s something with her mouth. They didn’t get all the black skin off her mouth or nose and i think that’s an issue. We tried a Toothpick last-night and slowly got it open enough to syringe the liquid food in there a couple times. We also got her saline drops because the eye skin keeps coming back.
Other wise she is crawling all over the place and active!!

She sure looks better. I have been very concerned about her and you as I know how hard it is to love something you don’t know how to help. Please keep us informed of how she is doing.
Thank you! Will do we are 100% committed to her recovery.I

That's great! I was beginning to think that someone was playing a cruel joke on us and the first pics were of a dead tort.View attachment 277723

Did the vet have any idea what caused it?She sure looks better. I have been very concerned about her and you as I know how hard it is to love something you don’t know how to help. Please keep us informed of how she is doing.

Thank you for not giving up.

Was there something caustic in the ground?
Yes, definitely have it tested. If it caused burns that bad on your tortoise, it might be bad for you and your family to even inhale the air around it.I wonder if you could take a soil sample to the County Extension office and ask them to test it. I know they do that in Texas, not sure about other states.
The County Extension offices do that in Florida, too. I think they pretty much do soil testing throughout the country.I wonder if you could take a soil sample to the County Extension office and ask them to test it. I know they do that in Texas, not sure about other states.
