Prickly pear cactus

Hello I just bought prickly pear cactus in a garden store. I removed all the old dirt and planted it in with pesticide free garden dirt
Now my question would be when can I safely feed it to my sulcata ?
And should I after I waited only feed new growth ?

I would let it grow and just break off and feed the new pads. Pinching and feeding the new singular pads...”should” encourage additional pad growth.
