I currently own 3 beautiful leopard tortoises I have some questions about possibly selling them, only because I had to excavate my yard and no longer have appopriate housing for them. This is my first post,so not sure how this works.
I live in New Jersey, but I am considering finding a new owner in a warmer climate,or someone local to help me rebuild and design a cost effective outdoor enclosure if I keep them

Thank you Ilene

Hi and welcome to the forum!

There is a "for sale " section under the heading marketplace. You could place an ad there. Please make sure any new owners are actually keeping the torts. Unfortunately there are people who look for free torts to sell and they don't care where they wind up. A rehoming fee is good insurance against that.

Hopefully though you can find someone to help you rebuild and keep them. There are lots of good ideas here for enclosures. Check out the enclosures section for ideas. People here are helpful and supportive too so if you decide to go that route and need advice just ask.

Good luck!

Hello. I also live in new Jersey. I'm currently the proud owner of a 1 year old leopard tortoise, Carmella! I would love to help you out. I give you much credit for reaching out to people in this forum whose love, compassion and knowledge have helped me in more ways than I can think of. I've only been a member for a few months and I'm not very sure how to post things but I've read a lot and if you can send me a message, I would love to know more about your tortoises! Thank you!

Hello, I’m in search of an adult male Leopard Tortoise to keep my female company. I live in Houston Texas & have a nice size yard & other enclosures. They get plenty of warmth & sun & I try to grow much of my own food. I can also come & pick up. I currently keep other baby Leopard Tortoises & Burmese Star tortoises.

Please keep in mind that tortoises are solitary animals, and don’t want or need company. The male would just stress the female out, and likely overbreed her. Tortoises should not be kept in pairs, and don’t need significant others, friends, or siblings.

They can be kept in groups of females and up to one male, however, because the stress is spread out and they are able to establish a pecking order. But with a male, expect babies.
