Charitable donations for tortoises and turtles, in case you’re thinking about it.

It’s donation matching time at my husband’s work and he just asked me if there was anything I’d like to donate to? I know others tend to make donations at the end of the year.

Like several members here, I have my Amazon Smile account set to donate a portion of my purchases to a tortoise conservation society. It’s easy to set up a Smile charity and they have many tortoise/turtle groups to choose from, many of which are smaller, local charities.

We also donated to the Turtle Conservancy; they are matching donations right now.

Oh, and a donation to this forum itself is always good: https://tortoiseforum.org/pages/support/. :)

Nice! I wish I had more to donate, but we give everything to our church and the American Diabetes Association.

I didn't know that about Amazon. Thank you for sharing. I'll definitely set that up.

You have to remember to go directly to Amazon Smile; hitting “regular” Amazon in your search bar takes you to the normal (donation-free) one.

You assume that how exactly?
Tim, I wasn’t attacking you personally or anyone that makes donations to a church. I think it’s a good thing.
I donate every year to what I believe are good causes. But I don’t use those donations, especially the ones I may make to a religious belief as an excuse to not donate to other organizations.
Sincerely, Gerry

Charitable contributions are a personal thing. We all decide what to donate to and how much based on what we can afford to give. I wish I had the funds to contribute to every worthwhile cause out there, but unfortunately I can't. I've donated to the church and to the ADA for decades. If lack of leftover funds are what you consider an excuse, then so be it. It's the only excuse I have. ;)

You missed the whole point. It’s of course your personal decision when it comes to making donations and of course ones finances should always be considered. Yes it’s up to you if you want to use your church donations as a reason not to contribute to other causes.
Are we cool?
Gerry
