I ordered some fresh opuntia pads from Amazon, and they arrived this afternoon ... my plan is to plant a few of the nicest ones.

Tonight, I diced one of the smaller ones into tiny cubes for Darwin, and as soon as I dumped them into his bowl, he charged out of the hides and started scarfing pieces of cactus down like he was starving ... he's not.

He seems to really like it.

Shoot...hit me up. I will be happy to give you some for free! I will even get some with roots and ship them to you. Let me know. Also I work in the garden center at Lowes and have extensive knowledge in succulents and native sonoran desert plants. Good luck with the opuntia!

I may take you up on that when the weather warms up again.

Our Tooter will not eat them at all we have access to them in the neighbors yard, the various hispanic markets everywhere but he is so picky! I also chopped up some carrot tops and he very carefully ate everything except for every little piece of them. He won’t eat Mazuri either, ugh. Luckily it’s usually sunny here and he grazes on weeds and grass for hours.
