I recieved two more Testudo graeca hatchlings today! These are cyrenaica. Both incubated to encourage female gender, so I'll be getting a male soon.

"Leda" hatched June 23, 2018.
"Achelois" hatched July 1, 2018.

Now I have hatchlings representing five different graeca subspecies for this season. Just wait until next season!!!IMG_20180928_123048_884.jpegPicsArt_09-28-11.07.01.jpegPicsArt_09-28-11.05.49.jpeg20180928_104339.jpeg20180928_150724.jpeg

Hello, you seem very familiar and experienced with Greek hatchlings so I was hoping that you could provide some advice.
I have a Greek tortosie that hatched August 11, 2018 and I want to do everything right for this little guy (or girl). I've read the care sheets from this forum, but is care the same for adults as hatchlings.
I want to know everything about everything for my baby:
Enclosure size and type?
Heat? Ambient temperature and basking?
UVB? Best way to provide it.
Soaking, how often and at what temperature?
Humidity? Should I also have a humid hide?
Substrate/bedding. What is best?
Appropriate water bowl. How big and how deep?
Feeding. Appropriate foods? Feed inside or outside of the enclosure?
Should the enclosure be covered? How does the heat get in if it's covered?
Calcium supplement? How much and how often? With or without D3?
Multivitamin? How much and how often?
Anything else I might missed?

I would really appreciate your input.
This is his current enclosure. The bulb says it is 25 watts and provides UVB.IMG_20181004_192730.jpeg

Congrats on your new baby! I'll answer the questions you asked, and also recommend checking out the "Hatchling Husbandry" section on my website, https://sweetgreektorts.com/hatchling-husbandry

Enclosure size: For my hatchlings I use a 54-gallon heavy duty Rubbermaid tub. It's great for holding enough humidity.

Basking temps are around 95 degrees Fahrenheit. The cooler side gets to around 75-79 degrees Fahrenheit. Hot and humid is the key. Cool and humid can cause respiratory problems.

UVB I use the Reptisun 10.0 T8 UVB fluorescent tube.

I soak hatchlings every morning for about 30 minutes in warm water (I change the water often to make sure it stays warm).

For humid hides I have a plastic box container with an entrance cut into the side. It's filled with warm, moist sphagnum moss.

Substrate I use is a 50/50 mix of coco coir and organic topsoil (make sure it has no fertilizer agents in it). Forest Floor bedding can also be used with the organic topsoil.

Water dish is a terra cota plant saucer. It's heavy enough not to be moved or tipped over, and shallow enough to prevent drowning or flipping.

Main diet should be weeds, flowers, and broadleaf greens. I grow these from seed. I also feed spineless prickly pear cactus, optunia fruit, Mazuri, and "store" greens (dandelion, escarole, green leaf lettuce, red leaf lettuce, turnip greens, endive, and radicchio).

I do not have a cover on my hatchling enclosures. They stay hot and humid enough.

I sprinkle calcium powder on their food 3 times per week. (With D3 is for indoors, without D3 is for outdoors).

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Kitty
