Do you feed watermelon at room temp?

~ What ever the environment is, we control the volume given and remove anything that is left over the next day with any fruit we feed. This helps control the amount they consume, keeps the flies to a minimum and keeps the waste out of the field. Mazuri days are even more managed, we remove all that is not eaten right after they finish.

Looks refreshing.

~ They really enjoy treats, treats consist of a very small percentage of our juvenile and adult populations diet. Hay and cactus are usually always available and offered on a continuous basis.

Do you compost? I imagine you could get some great soil, especially from all the tort "leavings"! ;)

Is there a specific reason that mazuri is removed immediately if not eaten?

~ We try and control the amounts to avoid any overages. It simply gets hardened by the sun and attracts ants, rats, etc. if left out. It also is very difficult to get it out of the bowls once it gets hard in them. We feed mazuri mainly during the dry months and our egg laying season as a supplement. It is a very small percentage of our populations food intake. We actually have a few females that do not want any and prefer other options. The bulk of our food sources for our population is grass, weeds, hay and cactus.
