Pearly's cherryhead marbling story

From what I understand Cherrheads come from a dry region and the marbling is a byproduct of being evolved for that habitat.

Pearly your tort looks great regardless of marbling or not. Are you sure it's loosing the marbling pattern. The new growth is black but is the existing marbling fading.

Hey Craig, yes, unfortunately most of that bright white and ivory is gone/covered but layers of darker streaks. I’ll look for the good pictures to update this thread. And Tucker still gets new ivory growth streaks in his growth areas but those vanish pretty quickly. I miss all that white/bright coloration, but he is still my sweet lil’ cutie:)

Hey Craig, yes, unfortunately most of that bright white and ivory is gone/covered but layers of darker streaks. I’ll look for the good pictures to update this thread. And Tucker still gets new ivory growth streaks in his growth areas but those vanish pretty quickly. I miss all that white/bright coloration, but he is still my sweet lil’ cutie:)
Pearls. Can you do me a favour and get me a very good picture of across the vertebral scutes please. I want to see if the Ivory keratin grows different than when the darker growth comes in.
Maybe the ivory keratin is a natural camouflage mechanism that’s not needed when they get bigger and harder.
