Will you share a pics from above and side?
I agree with your post mentioning the gentleness of aldabra. my little one learn very fast, and very curious. Eat as much as (if not more) my sulcata that twice his weight.

Thanks all for the welcome back. Ya musta thought I slipped off the planet. Lol.

I have a couple other interests that were consuming me for a time; motorcycles & shooting. Getting into competitive pistol shooting soon up in Punta Gorda FL & have a friend who has a private backyard range where we practice 3-gun.

I get like that , takes awhile till I find a balance.

Found I have missed the interactions here.

Over the winter I did worry a bit about CupCake as she slowed down her eating considerably. From October last yr to February she gained very little. Almost a growth halt. In every other way she seemed quite fine. She'd been checked for worms , but just seemed sluggish. Was beginning to think maybe I should have her checked by the vet again. But in March she perked up & started eating more & gaining again.

No idea what that was , but she's fine now. However , 17 lbs at 3 & 1/2 yrs old seems small. I know all torts have their own growth rates & even those in same clutches can vary greatly.

But her eyes are bright , shell great , stands & walks upright with straight legs , so I guess nothing to worry about
:)

And she's eating well with good variety. I've never tried to increase her growth with too much rich food. Though I do spoil her with store bought bell peppers - she does love those. She gets a strawberry once in awhile , but that's rare. Her favorite foods still seems to be hibiscus leaves/flowers & cactus pads. She will pass up anything for that.

I wonder if those of you who have raised an Aldabra to this age have info on their weight at 3 & 1/2 yrs. would be interesting to see the variance.

Hope y'all have a good day !

She was probably just slowing down for the winter, as many of us do.

Interesting today. I had CupCake out for a bit of a greens pile & interaction on my Lanai. I was on the phone & felt a little nip at my toe.

I jerked up to see her testing my big toe for tastiness.

She indeed is much more comfy with people. She doesn't shy from me now.

I can always see a new growth spurt by the width of the gray lines. Hers are always so clear & even.

I call her my little "bowling ball"

Last photo was 7 days ago showing growth lines. Today I noticed the lines had thinned & dark shell taking their place.

I think I'm going to watch carefully & see the time frame between the widest growth lines almost to when the disappear & start widening again.

I think is was @ALDABRAMAN that asked me once how long that growth cycle was & I never paid attention to the lines long enough to tell.

Here she is today , with (gray) ImageUploadedByTortoise Forum1500835855.662113.jpglines getting smaller

@Stuart S. My favorite is Major Power Class , & Steel Challenge - with my Springfield TRP Operator 45 , 3/4 rail. The only change I've done to it is replace front sight with fiber optic. Smooth like glass.

I use a SA EMP4 9mm for IDPA ( it's also my CW) Re-fit slide, pinned ejector. But it's stock. Never win but have a blast. :).

Have a HK45 tactical setting up with RMR - that'll be new.

Florida is a great place for my hobbies !
