It is good excitement to see all your pictures. Hingebacks are so interesting, the most non-tortoise tortoise of all. I bought some subadult speke's a few years ago. They just might be getting big enough to consider them as possibly reproductive. The males mate the females, but they may all still be to small.

Great job!

So fresh picked up! They're in captivity since 2013. The male have a leg problem I'll post pictures of it.
I drove 8 hours but it was 100% worth it. Hopefully we'll see some eggs next months.

I don't know much about this species.
Do you keep them wet and what does their diet consist of?

No I don't keep them wet. Actually my group stay outside from
April-Septemeber so they aren't inside the half year. When they come in they make a kind of "hibernation". They sleep from October-February. In this time I keep them really really dry!!
I feed them a mix of mushroom carrots greens Appel etc... Sometimes in this mix are 10 different things. The females also eat earthworms and slugs but the males don't.

I just had a quick Google on this species. From what I understand they venture into the Savannahs during wet season and retreat to woodlands in dry season. I'll keep reading up on these, sounds like an interesting species. I can't find out, but it seems they don't eat fruit, is that correct?

All this Google informations are difficult... Kinixys spekii have different local forms and all have an other behavior. My 2,2 group were imported from the area around Pretoria, SA. On the way I keep them (simmer in the outside/ winter inside a dry terrarium) they do really good.
I don't feed fruits so often but they really like fruits.
Yes I feed my hatchling earthworms and they love it :D

At the moment a very easy enclosure but we have Sunday and the stores are closed. I'll put some plants inside this week.
The female just eat but the male not.
