Sparta has a scoliosis naturally. Sparta likes water and swim so well. That's for Sparta's swimming. Swimming is good for Sparta'health growth and spinal correction. Thanks for your concern!

~ I agree with popeye tortoise, would it not be more beneficial for Sparta to walk on solid ground and not be forced to swim?

I agree with popeye tortoise and you! Thanks for your kindness and advices :) I have held down a walking on solid ground and a swimming in water for Sparta's healthy growth continuously. I'll do it as you said. Thank you so much!!! :)

~ I must say that the fact you actually have images of his issues and dedicate so much into his proper growth and development is truly impressive. Awesome little guy and truly hope he has a healthy, active and happy life. Please continue to share your post on Sparta including his progress, etc. We have a few medically compromised young ones also and completely understand the time, efforts and resources that are involved at time. One last comment, what a cool name "Sparta".

For exercise, or water therapy (hydrotherapy)...would it be useful to have the tortoise supported in deep water?

If you had him supported on a block of wood (or something) so he couldn't actually go underwater...but could still 'swim' his legs, would that be of benefit to his spine development?

Sparta looks great ,is he moving around a lot due to his medical problem. Great dedication so many people would have given up. Most people give up just because the animal shell is not perfect. I have a young aldabra that I received and when I got he/she it had an extra scute and a split scute in the back. But I kept he/she because I care for the animals health and long life not how it looks. So many people look at animals as trophies and not as a life.

Thanks for your attention!! Swimming or water therapy is just for Sparta's healthy growth, recently add to walking on hard ground. I think that Walking on hard ground is better for healthy growth than swimming :)

It's so helpful to me. Thanks!! I'm of a mind with you. I just hope to Sparta's healthy growth. It's not important Sparta's appearance to me. I don't give up, I'll do my best for Sparta's long life!!! Sparta is moving around a lot for his/her health. I hope to see your aldabra's photos. Certainly your baby is so adorable :) Thank you so much!!!
