Hibernation or not!

I have a couple of two months old Texas tortoises (5 cm), should they hibernate this winter? Or are they too small for that. Thanks :)

I don't allow my hibernating species to hibernate until they live outside full time. This is at about 3 years of age.

Hey Alfonso E,

I have a similar question - am not sure how old is my baby texas tortoise , but when can they start hibernation?
Hoping you might have answers now :)

I like to hibernate temperate species every year, including their first. I've never had any problem doing it. I keep their first one short at about 8-10 weeks. The important thing is leading them into and out of hibernation correctly, and also maintaining the correct temperature throughout. Here is more on that:
