Rescued this guy from the lawn mowers

I was able to rescue this guy from the lawn mower in my community. I'm planning on putting him across the street in the wooded area of our park. I noticed that his head seems to be larger than most turtles in my area. He also seems to have a large white mass coming out of one side of his head. I've attached a pic. Any ideas what this may be?

He's actually quite nice and let me handle him. Simply by touching the abscess it jumped off like cottage cheese. I applied some sudocream, an anti septic healing cream. I'll keep him in my old Russian enclosure for a while to make sure it heals and then I will release him across the street in the park

I totally agree with all the above. So glad you found him, are willing to help him and then release him.

Can you cut the abscess out. I found one last week. We cut it out and he was healed in two days
