Just an update. Leo is doing great. It seems to be two steps ahead one step back but hey he's getting much better everyday:) tomorrow will be his 5th injection. I hate giving them he hates it:( after that five more to go. I hope that's not too much for his body to handle.

Poor baby. My husband had to do it when my 20 pound leopard had to have them. I couldn't. Can't imagine giving them to a little guy. Soak him plenty to keep him hydrated. It will be all better soon.

It's very tough with my little guy:( he puts up a fight which i guess is a good thing. I'm a little ocd with him and get paranoid about dehydration so i soak him at least six days a week if not everyday. I would love to have a leopard one day:)

I have Leo his fifth injection. After i gave it to him i was devestated because i put it in his same arm, I'm suppose to switch arms and its been such a long day i accidentally put in the Same arm and realized right after the fact,i feel awful. He seemed just fine during and right after. He ate really good but lately he's not burrowing down at night. I have a shredded pile of paper towel and he sleeps under it every night but for some reason lately he's be crashing anywhere stretched out neck just laying all out. I hope this is ok. It's not like him. But other than that he is doing great!!

It's alright. Switching arms is only bcz one arm will get sore. I was so happy when we were done with Scarlett's.
He may not be burrowing as much because he is warmer and feeling better. Keep an eye on him and keep providing the great care you are.

Follow the antibiotic regimen the vet suggests. Stopping short of the full course can cause more problems (e.g. resistant strains).

The vet said seven the first time but clearly that wasn't enough as he relapsed:( i hope 10 is the right amount!!

Continued proper husbandry will contribute greatly to avoiding another relapse. Antibiotics, even if they completely eliminate the current infection, will not prevent relapse. Maintain your vigilance, continue the correct husbandry and you should be able to avoid most future problems.

I think that the cement mixing tub may be part of the issue. It has such low sides that it would be impossible to maintain proper temps due to the drafts. Have you read the baby rt care sheet that is pinned at the top? You might have to look with a computer to see it. For such a small baby, a glass tank or Rubbermaid bin is more suitable than a tort table or a cement mixing tub. I would not use any sand. I like additive free top soil (ace brand is good) mixed with coconut coir. I think @Tom uses the same mix. I wouldn't give such a small tortoise antibiotic injections, but would boost day and night temps so ambient Temps never sink below 85 degrees, even on the cool side. You can use a 20gal long tank temporarily. Follow instructions in the care sheet for setting up the hot humid hide.

Your guy appears to be an import, wild caught and not a baby or juvenile. The shell has been damaged possibly from a light too close, or possible shell rot from hibernating in damp substrate. Actually his carapace looks good for being an import. If he currently has a shell problem your vet should/would of mentioned it when he was examined. Because he is not a baby I would be hesitate to put him in a humid environment, with a respiratory problem. I would bump his temperatures up a bit. Giving him a warm spot and a place to move if he feels uncomfortable. Good luck and please keep us informed of his progress.

That picture i posted was my sister's. He's a wild caught adult. Mine is a 10 month old captive bred baby that i bought from a breeder in Nevada. Mine is the one With the respiratory infection:(
