I really would love to see wild turtles living in their own natural environments but have no idea where I can find them. I live in Central Valley California. Biggest city near me is Fresno.

Can anyone give me some suggestions of where I can go to see some wild turtles?

If you want to see California Desert tortoises, there is a place near California City. I've been there a couple of times. Part of the year, there are researchers out there that will take you out and help you find some.

Most ponds in California are on private property. We used to have our own lake, complete with turtles, near the central Coast, but we don't live there anymore, and they might be gone now due to the drought. Most public lakes probably have turtles. Have you checked out any of the public lakes? I found this site which shows some Northern California lakes that have turtles: http://el.erdc.usace.army.mil/emrrp/turtles/states/corps/ca.html
