I have small tunisian torts and when i'm doing yard work I like to bring them outside and keep them in a small pen to walk around. Occasionally, they may escape and walk around my yard. It takes a while to find these little guys. They're only a year old, so I can't do anything too elaborate. Is there something I could tie to my tortoise shell or another idea in case something like that happens? I want to make sure it's something safe so they don't try to eat it off themselves or each other

Depends how big they are.
I've seen folks tape blinking jogging / by cycling L E D lights to 'end

Tie ribbon around them with bow on top

Hello, and a very warm welcome to Tortoise Forum. :)
A bow is the simplest and cheapest solution, but I have seen people using children's balloons filled with helium.

Hello and welcome. Where are you?

You will lose them if you continue doing what you are doing. Ask me how I know this…

Here are some simple ideas to contain them. I think the kiddie pool idea will work best for tiny babies. Make sure the enclosure is at least half in the shade all the time so they don't overheat.

If you go with the wood or block, make sure there are zero gaps around the bottom.
