Tortoise Nails? Clipping or Filing?

Hi everybody!

My Russian tortoise Paarthurnax's nails have been getting VERY long. I've never clipped or trimmed them before, and I assumed that by just walking around his home, he would naturally wear them down. But that hasn't really been happening, and he actually ended up breaking one of his nails down to the stump because it was so long! (Don't worry; he didn't bleed or anything)

My question is, should I clip or file his nails? I've read that using an emery board is better since you can get more control over it, and it doesn't make them bleed.

Thanks! :)

I've always used a large toe nail clipper.

Using a nail clipper to trim them down to a better level is usually the quickest. I'm not sure how one would keep a tortoise's legs still for long enough to file down long toenails!
