My wife got a mee (Brown mountain tortoise) two weeks ago. She put a few terrarium plants in his enclosure friday and I wanted to make sure they are okay for her. They are . Bird nest, club bird nest, beer foot or beer claw fern, and nephthytis. I took the nephthytis out until I found out different.

You can also use mosses, spider plant, begonia, clumps of grasses... throw seeds of greens/squashes/veggies in there to sprout (my babies used to love grazing on those seedlings) you can use many pretty edible plants but once your baby grows bigger, he will probably bulldoze everything in his way. That's why I hardly ever post pics of my terrarium. It only looks pretty on the day of "spring cleaning" which involves replacing moss and cleaning terrarium glass, I sometimes put couple new plants there if i have some ready (organically grown out from cutting or seed), but that just doesn't last. And it's ok bcs my terrarium is serving as temporary holding for my two during cold weather only. Their tortoise garden is safely enclosed and they spend all day outside, come inside only for a bath, dinner and sleep. I think that next winter we'll move them out full time and just utilize their heated house. So enjoy your terrarium while your baby is little. Keep posting pictures, so much fun to look at them

It's gorgeous plant but have you crosschecked for compatibility with tort snack? Somehow i seem to recall something negative about this plant... or I maybe wrong but perhaps @Yvonne G knows?...

I hope its safe. It is an alocasia. A "poly elephant ear" to be exact. I read in another post that mountain torts thrive on alocasia in the wild. I will hold off on letting them eat it until I know for sure. It won't be ready for them to eat untin mid june to flush all the chemicals out. Hopefully I can get a yay or nay by then. Thanks pearly
