What's his enclosure humidity? And do you soak this little cutie? Peeling is not a "disease" but in little youngster I think I'd give him more opportunity to get hydrated from "in and out". I've never seen my RF's peel but i hear other species do. For mine I rub them down with coconut oil every so often after their bath. ImageUploadedByTortoise Forum1490559054.329368.jpg that neck skin is very thin, and I like it better when it feels softImageUploadedByTortoise Forum1490559153.585088.jpg see how it wrinkles? Mine are still very young and I'm probably OCD about "preventive type husbandry". ImageUploadedByTortoise Forum1490559247.009107.jpg Shellie's skin on her legs is thicker and has those scales that offer some protection, but it too, (the skin) gets thin closer to the shell and you can see a little pink area there around her hip, she must have rubbed it on something. I think it's very much like with our skin. When ours is dry it can get brittle and prone to even slightest injury, but when we keep it well hydrated and moisturized, it's supple and has this elasticity and resilience against trauma

Is this still okay?

It's kind of hard for me to see in that photo what you are trying to show me... sorry. It still looks okay to me, but I would need a clearer pic. Are you still doing the soaks? And Russian tortoises peel a lot!!! Whenever someone talks about peeling or wants to show a picture of peeling, it's always a Russian. Here's a pic of mine peeling. If they said THIS is normal, then yours certainly is!! Warm soaks helped her, but it took a while.peely 004.jpg work3 005.JPG peely 007.jpg

What a cutie your tortie is!!!! I think it's fine, but if it bothers you, you could try to rub on some coconut oil on it few times after the soaks. It's benign, won't hurt anything
Thanks and it doesn't really bug me its just i thought it was bad but if you say it looks all good then its all good

Hey again sorry for the consistency of replies but it seems to nt be going at least the one underneath his head on his neck just wondering how long would it take for him to almost shed?

I don't know how long it takes a young tortoise to shed; it took several weeks for my adult Russian to go through a "big" shed around her neck.

She's peeled a couple of times since we got her last year and is peeling a tiny bit from her face right now. The worst it has ever looked was around the neck when she was having a growth spurt; I was so nervous!

I know ten days is a long time when you're worried but I don't see anything troubling. If you see something pink or red, you can post again.
