Just adopted this little one from a local reptile rescue knowing s/he needs some work. A beak trim and serious nail trim will be first on the list, treating an eye infection, and getting him/her plumped up some. The plastron is flat and the tail looks more female but the eyes are definitely more red than my other girls. Rescue told me female...I'm not so sure. Thoughts? Would be easier to tell if s/he tries to mount my females but this guy/gal will be in quarantine until hibernation time and may not be hibernated this year if health doesn't improve quickly.

Thanks! I am leaning toward female based on the tail too but want to be sure before eventual introduction to my other ladies. And although I've heard of it none of my 8 females have red eyes.

Any other opinions?

aftertrim.jpg Much happier girl now that she can eat without food just bouncing off that beak!
