I like to check how smooth my tortoises growth is along the scute margins once in a while just by touching. i noticed on different occasions though my tortoise reacting uncomfortably when i used my fingernail and it got in the margins, so i stopped doing that.
Does this mean anything is wrong with the health of my tortoise? New growth along the margins are relatively light in colour, but eventually darkens.
