PLEASE HELP MY SOUTHERN PAINTED TURTLE!

I have a baby southern painted turtle and lately i found on its skin something wierd looking and brown. It seem to be attached real good and it wont come off with my fingers, please tell me what it is and what should i do,, at this moment i have no money to ho to the vet. And also its been swimming sideways i dont know if its related. PLEASE HELP ME , THANKS

It might just be something stuck on there. I think it's ok to just leave that alone and hope if comes off on its own.

As to the sideways swimming...that is usually an indication of pneumonia in water turtles. Warm him up to help him toss it off. If you can't afford to take him to the vet, maybe you can buy some terramycin antibiotic powder from a feed store. It is packaged up for swine and chickens, but I've used it for turtles and tortoises and in certain illnesses it works. Don't know if it will work for your baby's illness.

You could try pulling it off with tweezers, just make sure you only get the brown thing and don't pull so hard that it will hurt him. It kinda just looks like plant matter or something. Is he getting to dry out completely while basking? If not, get him dry and it might just flake off.
