I understand that different chemicals can harm our torts. My question is, can we fertilize the plants we put in our tortoise enclosures? I am not talking about pesticides, I know we can not use them. But, fertilizer is a bit different. Will this hurt the torts? Just wanted to ask first.

There should be no problem feeding plants grown with fertilizer to a tortoise. All plants need fertilizer in some way or other. Just don't allow the tortoise to have direct access to actual fertilizer.

i use vermicast/vermitea for my tortoise grazing pen, as well as for the rest of my potted plants and trees. i know it's all natural because i get it from a friend's worm bin. i prefer not to use any chemicals because i have kids, cats and dogs sniffing around and some wild birds/bats/insects visiting to eat the flowers and fruits.
