Here's a complete newbie question. What is involved in the care and maintenance of substrate in an outdoor enclosure?

I'm not quite sure what your asking. However, my outdoors enclosure is natural grass, weeds, plants and some dirt and cement pond substrate. I really only clean up poop and plant what ever edible plants I can fit in. I cut the weeds and grass down when it too tall, as I learned on this forum that some stuff gets bitter tasting to the torts if too tall and over grown.

I forgot, I empty and fill the pond every day and clean the water bowl and refill every day. All this is only in the warm months. In winter, I just look at it and cry that its not warm out. LOL. My tort for now is housed inside for winter.
