Hi I only got my horsefield tortoise 4 hours ago, it's my first but I'm worried as after he wandered around for about an hour he went into one corner and buried himself. I knew horsefield dig but he's almost covered himself ?
The temp is 25degrees
Is he just settling in ?

Hello and welcome. Can I ask you to start your own thread so we can help you? Others will then realise this is new. However, I will reassure you that wanting to hide in the first 4 hours of ownership is completely normal though. It's new; he's terrified.

Give your tortoise more time. Mine did that for almost a full week before acclimating to his new home. Now he climbs over everything and makes a mess when I feed him.

He's getting his coziest and feeling safe for now. My Russian loves to burrow in the corners of his enclosure. He would burrow a lot when he first moved in with me. I've had him since November 2009 and I still try to be patient with him. He'll come out when he's ready. Good luck! :tort:
