Hello everybody.

I have a tortoise that I'm not sure the species of. In an effort to best care for it I've come here for some help.

Thank you

I agree. Appears to be sulcata. Do you have a pic of the back? Look to see if there are any spikes on the back legs, near the booty/tail.

What a cutie! Mine is 17 years old and probably over 100 pounds. Where are you located? You should raise him or her indoors now but eventually he will have to move outdoors. It is easier in a warm climate.

Hi, and welcome to the Forum!

It's a good thing you're finding us now, before winter sets in, because since you know nothing about your tortoise's species you may not know that they don't hibernate. They come from an area of Africa that doesn't get cold enough for the tortoises to hibernate. This means you have to keep this baby warm during the winter.

Wow! I am proud of myself because I guessed "sulcata" before it was confirmed by these experts! PAT PAT on my back.

Wow! Again, because imagine not knowing what I had and then hearing that BIG word SULCATA. WOW.

You came to the right place for help!!!
