My Group of Russians

These are my russian tortoises. Way back, a long time ago, @egyptiandan identified the subspecies for me. They are all Testudo kasacstanica (sp?). At that time I had about 15 Russians and I adopted out all the ones that were not the same subspecies. When I opened the lid on their hibernaculum, they were all bright-eyed and looking at me.

The male is the one on the lower left, the deformed one.

I let them go in their yard. Free! I'm Free!!!

Awesome! That's a nice yard for them. Do they get along out there? ;)

Very nice looking group! How long were they asleep?
Mine all got up about 2 weeks ago. I got 3 eggs tonight. Is it normal for them to lay this quickly after getting up?

I put mine away last October, so about 5 and a half months.

Yes, it's normal for egg laying to occur soon after hibernation.

Wow. That is a long time. I thought 16 weeks was kind of a max. Thank you for the info. That is good news for me.
