A friend dug out 74 eggs from a M.e.p. nest mound. What's the world record of clutch size for M. emys? So far, the information I found for the clutch size is about 50~53.

As far as I know the old record was 66. This does sound like the most eggs from one clutch. :D I will though ask Vic Morgan when I see him this August about it.

That's from a black mt. tortoise. The female is huge, more than 20", but I don't know exactly.

You have to feel for the poor female having passed that many eggs. Will be an amazing photo to see the hatchlings, if even half of them hatch.

Thanks for posting Scott. I just stumbled on this thread and thought I'd update you. There were 4 eggs damaged beyond repair so we have 70 in the incubator. We had to spark up another incubator just to hold this one clutch. The next biggest clutch from this female was 36 so this was a huge shock. We were at a loss for words. You never saw 4 more puzzled faces as the eggs kept coming. Send good thoughts...Jerry Novak

Hey Jerry, Welcome to TortoiseForum. I was so exciting when I saw you opened the nest. My hands were shaking when I held those eggs. Please keep us updated for those eggs.

Wow what would you do if they were all fertile? I still can't believe the huge amount!
