My wonderful greek tortoise is developing gouges on her belly. I am thinking it is from her favorite activity, climbing rocks and logs and sliding down. Is there something I can cover these areas with or another toy she could play with that wouldn't harm her if that is what is causing this? :tort:

I don't see anything there to be concerned about. If the areas you are referring to are the slightly pink lines dividing the scutes, that's just new growth.

I don't see any rock damage on it's shell.

The areas I am talking about are the two large darker spots with the gouges. I know Its hard to see, but the scrapes are about an eight of an inch deep now.

I agree if there are gouges in his shell, I would remove the rocks.

when did you discover this? are you sure it hasnt been their and is maybe some sort of shell rot or shell fungus? just a thought unless our sure is is from the rocks. seems like it would have to be a pretty sharp rock to ro that.
