Is Malayan Box Turtle Breath Underwater?

Hi All,

I am curious to know that is Malayan Box Turtle breath in water?
Is an air pump needed for this water pond?

Turtles do not breathe through gills but need to surface to breathe air. That can stay submerged a long time but will need to surface to breathe. You want to keep clean water soon bacteria builds up but do not have to worry about water quality for breathing - like for fish whose gills would get damaged.

Thanks for clarification. I can conclude that an air pump is not needed for turtle tank.

An air pump is not necessary for the turtle. However it does create circulation and aerate the water which helps keep it cleaner. Fish would definitely benefit if you ever put any fish in.
