How can I tell if the shell is soft or just pushing in a bit because he's young?

Their shell should be pliable, like leather almost not soft. It should not feel squishy (scientific term) when you give it a little squeeze.

Yeah I agree your leopard is only a year right? If so then I would not worry about this at all. The bigger he becomes the harder it will be. Think of it like a toddler with soft bones.

Definitely makes sense. Try to keep an idea of how pliable it is because if it starts getting softer then something is wrong. He does look like a healthy tort from the video though.

Just lately last few days he's been very sleepy I suppose. Sleep all day long. Unless outside.

The only advice I can give you is to move him outside as much as possible. Im sure since your in canada its not ideal temps for most of the day.

Hey guys, I'm new to the forum, and I have the same problem with my sulcata, it only wanders around when I take him out in the sun, when I first adopt him, his plastron shell isn't as soft as it is now. Any idea why? It's really starting to worry me.

If the shell is going soft, it is sick and will more than likely need medical help to survive. They go downhill quickly once this happens.
