Hinge-back carapace issue???

Hello, does anyone know if these carapaces look normal? What concerns me is the white areas that look like damage to the carapace, or flaking. I wonder if they were bit by a dog. Someone is letting these 2 females go for for $50.00 for both and I and worried if maybe they have some kind of issue, also can anyone tell which hinge species they are?

They are Homes. The shell looks like it has some old damage, but hard to see clearly what it might be caused from. If I lived near, I'd be buying them.

Do you know if that old damage will heal over normal in time with good husbandry?

My belief is that there will always be signs of it.
