hi everyone!

I rescued this little cutie from a very busy constructions site in town.... no idea were she came from. But would like to care for her. We have a HUGE yard and know she'll be happy here once she's big enough! I found Lots and Lots of useful information on your page, but please need help identifying her!

Thank you
Lelanie

A very warm welcome to the forum.

A cute little tort.:<3: Please soak your tort daily, in warm water, so as to avoid dehydration and pyramiding. And ask ANY question when you need help. And do not forget to post pics of the enclosure.;)

Thank You So soooo Much!!!

I thought so too, but needed confirmation:) We live in Mpumalanga South Africa!
the vet could only point out that it's a female!

thank you!
Welcome. All torts look female when they're small, so this may yet prove to be male. It has a lot of growing to do. They get pretty big!

I assume Leopard Tortoises are a native species where you live. :)

thank you all so much for the warm welcome and all the help:) I'll post more pics soon!

yes, they are quite common around here, but I've never seen one with such an unique shell pattern!
I'm not sure if we may keep them, permits are required ect. but i'll do my homework and keep you posted :)

Hello and welcome. Those little guys are very precious over here and somewhat rare too. What a lucky find!

Your vet probably means well, but clearly does not know much about tortoises. Use caution there…

Please read these for proper care and feeding info:

The title here says its for sulcatas, but I feed my South African Leopards exactly the same. Unlike some leopards from other parts of Africa, the variety you have there likes to eat a lot of grass, as well as all the other stuff.

hi everyone:)
just wanted to give an update on my little tort, "She's" doing Great! Apparently she doesn't like the soaking... but getting used to it now! She's avoiding the Grass as well, even when she's outside, she's going straight for the clovers, and roses!
Thank you so much for all the help! I'm still learning a lot...

Lelanie, I hope you know how lucky you are to have found a leopard tortoise! She was lucky to find you, too. :) Leopards usually cost $200-300 dollars. She will grow to be relatively big... I'm not sure of the exact measurements, but I think they grow to be about 12-15 inches? I love the shell pattern! :) Congratulations!
