Well apparently you risk dumping the water on the basking light. DOI!!!!!!!!!!!

And do you know what happens then? The bulb EXPLODES and shards of burning hot glass fly EVERYWHERE (man can that stuff fly).

Poor Isis was sitting underneath when it happened, thankfully she did NOT get hurt!!!

So I just spent a lot of extra time scooping out all the substrate, thank bob I had five extra Bed-a-Beast bricks... and an extra basking light. AND an extra lamp, since it fried the wires when it exploded.

Kelly, you might want to try and find a different, less expensive, explosive, way to get motivated to clean the substrate. LOL.
