so I have a little over a year old hermanns tortoise. He eats mazuri tortoise food once a week and a large pile of fresh greens everyday. And every once and a while get some fruit for a treat. He always has water and gets soaked every once and a while. I'm sure he gets plenty of uvb light.he has zipper scutes so his shell kinda always looks funny but other than that From these pictures does he look healthy? Especially with the bottom midle of his shell. Looks kinda dry and like its gunny peel. Is this normal? image.jpegimage.jpeg

Hi and welcome to the forum you will get lots of great advice here from very experienced keepers who share their methods just for the love of torts.
This is a good caresheet which will help you with diet, temps, humidity and substrate etc

The Beginners Mistakes thread is also good to help avoid the same mistakes as others (link below)
The Enclosures thread is full of great ideas

When you say you are sure he gets enough uvb - do you have a lamp that provides that, or is it still warm enough for him to go out in the sun in your part of the world?
If you tell us where you are located and post some pics of his enclosure members here will be able to advise on any improvements you could make to make sure he stays happy and healthy.
