We've had a couple of mild winters in a row and the Iguanas are back in huge numbers.
There is a giant pile of construction sand here at work and many eggs were laid in it.
This week old baby stopped in to say hello.
The babies are usually friendly. Unlike the 6 foot adults.

Generally the small ones are too fast for me to catch.
But when they come into the work bays, they can't get traction on the dusty, painted cement floor.

You can catch one, but you'll be bleeding.

Agreed, my green iguana was "tame-ish" and he's still shred you if he didn't want to do what you had in mind. He got into our willow tree once and I thought the resulting battle might kill both of us.

Have you ever tried the mono-filament-noose-on-a-stick method? Works great on all the wild lizards here. The lizards just ignore the mono and watch the person who is 8 feet away at the end of a fishing pole. Slide the noose over their head and one forelimb if possible, and swop them up.

You have to give it a try and tell me if it works on little iguanas!!!

I know that it does work.
A Haitian gentleman that works with my wife catches them this way. And eats them.
He swears that they taste very good.
He also uses a long pole, heavy mono and a treble hook.

Man that's rough, but I guess if you are going to kill it and eat it, then its all good. I'm glad to see someone removing introduced invaders. I don't want to see the lizards suffer, but they do need to be eradicated from the area.

Yes, Tree Chicken
Exactly.
Funny thing is that back a few years ago when a cold snap killed hundreds of thousands of them, nothing. I mean nothing would eat the bodies.

As I started reading this thread, my memory surfaced about this freeze and I was thinking it was you who told the story. I hadn't realized that nothing then ate the dead bodies.-

I had a rescue male like that. He also got mean when I had my period.

Oh yeah, they are SUPER sensitive to pheromones/hormones. That's what I attribute Dizzy's snapping on me to, I got a new female roommate and he did not seem to like her or all of the guys from the bar that she brought back into his territory.
