Got to see Sea Turtle nesting!

Was on vacation in Cancun but did not realize it was green sea turtle nesting season and that the turtles come onto the beach by our hotel. A waiter happened to mention it towards the end of our stay. I went out last night and saw 5 turtles on the beach! The hotel employees collect the eggs and relocate them in a screened off area. Apparently hotel guests are able to help release the hatchlings.

They are amazing to watch. I had only previously seen them in the ocean when snorkeling. Interesting how different they are on land vs swimming. On land their movements and reactions are very similar to land tortoises. Guess not too surprising (they are similar animals) but with their differences in physical appearance I thought they would be more different.
