Recently, I began breeding Redfoot.
I now have 5 perfect babies.
There is one thing I was not aware of:
My 3 inch babies eat more for their size than any of my adults.
They demolish two heaping piles of food every day. Any and all food. Any time of day.
It's insane.
If I were to feed my adults the same way, it would seem to equal a wheelbarrow full at each feeding.
I still have dozens of unhatched eggs. I found nine more just this morning.
Are Redfoot young just hogs, or is this common?

LOL, eating you out of house and home and they aren't even all hatched yet.
All I can add to this is my one baby that I hatched, leopard, now a year and 5 months and s/he has always ate a lot and waisted none. My adults are much pickier and almost always will leave food. I think they slow when larger as their growing slows. When young, they are constantly growing a noticeable amount. My first make leopard seems to be the same size for 3 years now. He is growing, just not noticeable amounts.

Baby redfoots eating food faster than you can buy it? I can definetly relate to that. Jasper’s barely six months and he eats his weight in dandelion leaves every night, and don’t even get me started on fruit. If someone in the room even opens an orange he won’t stop until he gets a piece! I honestly don’t know how he fits it all in his tiny body

Makes sense from a biological point of view. The faster they grow the better, as the number of predators decreases.

When they eat like that, it means you are doing it right.

Just found this thread, had a good laugh. My Shellie has been like that. The kids used to call her miss piggy. Tucker was my picky eater. Now at almost 3 yrs old Tucker is like a vaccuum cleaner woofing everting down snd Shellie little more picky/choosy
