My enclosure is a viv I don't think the brick would do and also was told that they need something that they can burrow into
I think you misunderstood me.

You soak the brick in water and it becomes loose compost. It doesn't get used like it's packed :D The bricks are just easier for packaging, storage and postage!

I know I'm stupid sometimes but I'm new to this but how many bricks would I need for a 3ft viv
You're not stupid ... It's hard to work out.

Decompressed, a brick makes about 2/3 of a bucket of soil so I'd guess you would use 2-3 to get a suitable depth.

Then you have a couple spare for when you decide to refresh the substrate
