Hi!

I have never seen my Greeks drink! And they almost never release urates either. My Hermanns do both daily. I soak all of them daily and have fresh water in a 2 shallow containers in their enclosures. Is this just a species thing? My Greeks are so laid back, they just sleep and enjoy the warm soaks. The only way I can make sure they get fluid intake is to repeatedly spray their food bowl with water. I hope that's enough for them!

Thanks in advance for any insight.

Hi @Shaif . Oli, beloved Greek tort does drink when being soaked. Have you watched your torts while being soaked? I had to watch Oli while he was being soaked.

Hope that helps.

I don't know about Hermann's but if your Greeks are kept well hydrated they won't produce much in the way of urates.
They do get most of their water from their food but water should always be available to them especially when it's hot.
They will drink when necessary.
Don't forget that during soaks, water is also absorbed through the cloaca, so as long as they are soaked regularly I don't think you have much to worry about.
