Desert torts up for a drink

Duncan and Hercules are enjoying a sunny day between rainstorms in Southern California.
It's not unusual for them to come out and drink from puddles, then return to the burrow to hibernate until April.
I make sure they stay dry in the burrow.
It's nice to see them, I miss them during their four months of brumation.

Mines are in the burrow, even today is at 34 celsius.

They look so sleepy. I also live in Southern California. My three Desert Tortoises are still sleeping. They normally wake up in March.

They really do look sleepy! By evening they had all returned to the burrow.
