I have received a group of 2.4 Vietnamese galbinifrons bourreti Turtles on breeding loan from a good friend in Texas. I am hoping that we will be able to get them to breed later on this year. Very rare and beautiful Turtles. Very shy as well. Snuck a few pics but trying to leave them alone to settle in.P2252135.JPG

Very hard to get. They are CITES II, so can not export from Vietnam, so whatever is here in the US, is probably all you will see of them. There are a few breeders but not a lot. The females typically only lay 1-2 eggs per year.

Not sure on that, Barry Lambert in Calif. has them. Possibly Will Ahrens. Will has quite a collection. A few Zoos have them. Zoo Atlanta, Oklahoma City.

They seem to be settling in. Interesting what they like and don't like. Let's see: Will not eat turtle pellets (yet) No greens.
They are eating a variety of low fat, low protein dog food (Wild Boar,Bison, R/D) Tomatoes, Chopped cactus pads, earthworms, mushrooms, strawberries, a few meal worms, crickets was a no go. Next week should be fun. I need to remove their surgical staples from their sexing. The males should be no problem, they readily come out of their shell. the females will be tougher. Very shy.

Fantastic! This would be pretty exciting stuff if you can get them to breed. Flowerbacks are absolutely stunning. Best of luck and keep us posted.

It was 50F overnight and they were not fazed by it. Now in the 70's and should be 80's today. The lows going forward will not be below 60F. They will be outside for the rest of the summer.

Yes but I don't keep them out all year round. They will be outside until mid October, then back inside for the winter.
