This morning this old girl was waiting at the gate to come in the yard, So I let her in. What is one more mouth to feed ?

Yes they do, it's not uncommon to see out and about on cool mornings.

No I set her in, I didn't see her until I opened the gate and she was sort of startled by my movements. She never closed up but didn't move either. I went down the street to put a neighbors trash cans on the street for pickup. it didn't take but a few minutes and when I got back she had disappeared already.

Very cool.. I love running across wild boxies, but they are never at my back gate lol..

One of six dirty little redfoots that call my front yard home. They can't get up the steps unless they work together so I don't usually worry about having the door open, but, surprise!
This male is setting on the outside of the back fence, If he is still trying to get in tomorrow I bring him

I get three toed box turtles in my yard all the time. They love rooting around the compost pile for worms.
Cute.
He was at the fence in a different place this morning so I brought him in and it wasn't long before I saw what he was really looking for.
We had a quick but heavy rain storm about 7 this evening and I noticed Walker was still out so I went to give him some more mulberry and grape leaves right after the rain stopped. While picking leaves I saw her with head under water, she was catching worms as they came to the surface. Older box turtles are so smart and fascinating to watch and learn from.
