Basking and UVB in one?

It's a Mercury Vapor Bulb. A type of bulb that's very common.

The wattage is very high. In a closed chamber, I think it would be too hot.

60-100W is more usual.

The UVB output diminishes after about 6-9 months - long before the bulb actually fails completely. So you need to accept that you must change it frequently

Have measured the temps yeaterday and ranges from 28 c to max 40 celcius. Would that be too hot? Thank you for response

Directly under the basking lamp, which should be the hottest spot, should be 35-38C - no more. So yes, it is a bit too hot.

Are you using a temperature gun type thermometer to measure temperatures? You won't get accurate measurements with anything else
