Anybody ever hear of a half- monkey tortoise?

My tort Rocky seems to really enjoy climbing around- and he can almost climb like a monkey! I'm having a harder and harder time keeping him in his indoor enclosure that he needs to be in when he can't be out and about.
I even have a small enclosure I had built for a couple of pups I had raised from before the time their eyes and ears were open, and Einstein Rocky managed to break out twice today while I was mowing! I also have a boxer- mix named Beth that I keep in the yard, and I was watching closely to make sure she didn't try to attack Rocky. Good thing she's tied- she lunged at him! I had to quickly escort him away from her in order to keep him safe, as he seemed to desire to stay and hunt near her.
All in all, a very interesting day with my Rocky!

P.S. He is quite safe!

Lol! Sounds like Rocky is an Russian. They can be very agile.

Wow, I thought for sure it was a russian too. Have you considered putting a chicken wire top on his enclosure? I think that would keep him in.

I have one Hermanni and a Burma star tortoise both are having the ability that go over the fences we try to put up to hold them in. It is fun to watch them try, but so scary to seek them out because worry not able to. So I think all the torts are have monkey...

Hey, bouaboua- if you're worried about your Burmese star getting away, I recommend you ship him to ME, as soon as possible!!!

Hahaha. Maybe you are right! I'd have never thought tortoises could climb with that agility!...:-O
