Wonder anyone has been using this for our tortoises? Relatively new and hardly able to see any reviews that are used on tortoises. Being an Metal Halide, I guess it has no issues in generating the heat, however, it comes in 35W; 50W and 75W. Any advise? Thank you.

There were no responses to this post, so I'm giving it a bump. I'm also really curious about these metal halide bulbs as another uvb source. The specs Exo Terra claims for them look really good http://www.exo-terra.com/en/products/sunray_fixture.php (and it looks like they may produce more uvb than most bulbs http://www.tortoiseforum.org/index.php?threads/ZOOMED-Digital-UV-Index-Radiometer.85716/#post-803305) but I'd be curious to know if anyone here has tested them in any way yet with tortoises.

The biggest concern I've seen/heard was that they are probably too intense for smaller enclosures/terrariums. Like the picture on the box; the light probably shouldn't be used for something that small. If the numbers they provide are accurate, I would be hesitant to recommend it to someone that couldn't test it.

Give me like a few weeks and I'll get you some actual numbers.
