I discovered my poor Zebulun, red foot, covered with tiny black ants day before yesterday. Not there one day, and enclosure full of them the next. I am so thankful for this forum. I remembered reading about this problem and searched for the answer. Ran out and got the Terro Ant Baits. Zeb is now back in a previous home for probably a week or two while all those ants DIE!!! What is anyones experience with how long it will take to kill the nest?

Awful!
Terro ant baits are great; get the ones for outdoors if you can find it.
It could take 1-2 weeks. You could also get food grade Diatomaceous earth and sprinkle a thick band around the outside of the enclosure. Feed stores will often carry it.
Try lifting up a rock or two. If you see a nest hole, bring a teapot to a boil and widen the hole a bit, and pour it in.
The combination of the above helps for me, along with keeping food remnants as cleaned up as possible. If ants are terrible in your area, I wonder about feeding him in a separate container except for weeds/plants growing in there?
