Loving the babies on a bed of greens. What kind of weeds are they eating? Its pretty with the little flowers
~ Are you asking how did the breeding program get started or when and how did i get started with tortoises as a hobby?

~ Always had an internal fascination for tortoises from a very young age. Simply was drawn to the giant tortoise species because of there enormous size and particularly the aldabra species because of there extreme gentle and humble natural nature.
~ As far as the breeding program, well that was a long and endeavorous challenge that was simply initially my dream in the early 80's. Three decades later, exhausting many resources and dedicating countless hours is the product that we are well known as today in the tortoise community as, ALDABRAMAN.

The pictures of the hatchlings is that as of today or in the past? If today how long before you let them out and about on there own.
~ They are micro managed for the first ten days and have ample access to natural sunshine daily. Once the egg sack is absorbed they spend their days outside in baby pens. The ones we selectively hold for further growth are released from the baby pens at 3.5", basically because they can not fit thru the security fencing.
~ Usually 3.5", we actually test them and make sure they can not fit thru the spaces of the security fencing.

Man of few words . ha-ha You got your start like me . Growing up I all ways went turtle hunting . Kept them a few days then put them back where I found them . Besides Tuck I've had him a long time . Caught him in a small creek in Pasadena Tx . He lives in my outdoor pond . It took years for me to get a tortoise . When I first seen red foots in pet shops they were full grown and expensive . With a new family I couldn't afford one . But some snake trading and sweet talking to the wife I have a group . Had snakes growing up . A cool science teacher gave me two Gopher snakes to keep for the summer . The next school year he let me keep them . Then I got into ball pythons . Then the snake morph boom hit. Got out of the snake thing with a warning from the wife . I call that the snake scare. Sold some balls and got Clover my first red foot . Now I have a good job that pays me too much money . So I have to find ways of spending it before my kids do. Haha

So you have a son , daughter ,grandson, or granddaughter taking over for you guys ? When you guys can't do it anymore . My boys have to have the bigger yard to get my tortoises . That's the only way I know to stop the fight . haha
